The Places pillar comprises the following elements:

1. Safe mobility

Inchcape promotes the safe use of roads with the objective of becoming a strong and visible advocate for reduced road accidents and deaths across all markets in which we operate.
We will:

  • support and promote safe driving through sponsorship of educational programmes, awareness creation and campaigns on safe use of roads;
  • partner with relevant bodies, stakeholders and advocates to develop and implement accident prevention initiatives and support emergency responses to save lives on the roads; and
  • develop and roll out a proprietary digital engagement platform dedicated to promoting safe mobility globally.

2. Inclusive mobility

As part of our approach to more inclusive mobility we will:

  • support people with disabilities to access the right mobility solutions through sponsorship and promotion of specific initiatives in our markets;
  • support key programmes that promote activities and topics such as sport, education, skills acquisition and the health of those with disabilities; and
  • ensure all Inchcape facilities and operations provide full and inclusive access to mobility for those with disabilities.

3. Social mobility

We will develop specific global and local projects and initiatives that support and enable equal opportunities for young people; for example through internship, apprenticeship, technical education and female education.

The focus of such programmes will be on the less privileged and disadvantaged young people in communities in which we operate to give those selected a better chance to live, grow and realise their potential.

Inchcape will be a promoter and supporter of upward mobility for all by helping and being seen to help young people out of poverty and deprivation.

Road Safety

Subaru Australia x Australian Road Safety Foundation

Subaru Australia has an enduring partnership with the Australian Road Safety Foundation (ARSF) which brings to life our shared vision of reducing road deaths and injuries nationally, by delivering education and awareness programmes to help make roads a safe and enjoyable place for all Australians. We actively endorse the ASRF’s road safety awareness programmes, encompassing road user education, advocacy, research, and community engagement, in alignment and support of Subaru Corporation’s vision of achieving zero fatal road accidents in a Subaru vehicle by the year 2030.

Since 2020, Subaru Australia has raised over $1m to assist ARSF. These funds assist with the ongoing roll-out of the award-winning education initiative Roadset, which sees over 85,000 students from 1,300 schools taking part. During the festive season, the Make it Home Safe for Christmas initiative transforms Subaru showrooms into beacons of road safety awareness, with Christmas Trees adorned with road safety pledge stars from ARSF. The Foundation’s September Rural Road Safety and Fatality Free Friday campaigns are also integrated into the retail network through engaging displays, informative materials, and collaborative events. It’s all part of actively promoting road safety, empowering customers to navigate the roads with caution and confidence.

Subaru of New Zealand x Street Smart driven by Tony Quinn Foundation Road Safety

With a shared vision of helping young Kiwis stay safe on the road, we’re proud that Subaru of New Zealand have joined Street Smart driven by Tony Quinn Foundation Road Safety as their Official Vehicle Partner, providing Subarus as control vehicles for the Street Smart team to use during their hands-on, insight-driven driver training program. Street Smart, driven by Tony Quinn Foundation Road Safety, offers a unique, one-day practical learning experience for young drivers and their parents/caregivers. Participants engage in supervised driving practice aimed at enhancing decision-making skills, understanding road environments, resisting peer pressure, and managing distractions.

As the program’s Official Vehicle Partner, Subaru of New Zealand will provide a Subaru Impreza and Crosstrek for the Street Smart program at Hampton Downs Motorsport Park and Taupō International Motorsport Park. At Highlands Motorsport Park, the driving team will use the WRXs that are based at the Cromwell facility as part of the Subaru WRX Experience. Across these venues, the program emphasises safe, controlled environments under normal road conditions. Its goal is to empower participants to become safer, more informed drivers, with a learner-centered approach that encourages self-assessment and further learning opportunities.
