Inspiring Connections: DEEPAL Australia joins Sculpture by the Sea, Bondi as Major Partner

DEEPAL Australia is proud to announce its partnership with Sculpture by the Sea, Bondi, the world’s largest free to the public outdoor sculpture exhibition. The partnership marks DEEPAL’s Australian public debut with a captivating and interactive display of the S07 SUV and the introduction of the inaugural DEEPAL Australia Artist Award.

To imagine and bring to life a unique display for the S07’s debut, DEEPAL Australia invited Simon McGrath, artist and Creative Director of Abnorml, to activate the site, and immediately he knew parking a car on the grass wouldn’t cut it. “The public attending this event are far more curious and deserving, so we decided to hide the car and play into this curiosity,” McGrath shared. “We’ve enshrouded the vehicle in a wall of water, a symbol of both DEEPAL and Sculpture by the Sea, inviting passersby to come and witness the future.”

On the innovative display of the S07, Cormac Cafolla, General Manager DEEPAL Australia, remarked: “Curious visitors will be able to peer through the water and glimpse DEEPAL’s stunning all-electric S07 — set to connect Australians with the future of electric mobility. Through a QR code, they’ll be invited to touch the future by booking a test drive when vehicles arrive in Australian showrooms in November.”

In addition to its own display, DEEPAL Australia is proud to share the inaugural DEEPAL Australia Artist Award which celebrates an artist who embodies DEEPAL’s vision of creating a harmonious relationship between technology, nature, and human experiences. This year’s award goes to Alejandro Propato from Argentina for his thought-provoking installation, ‘Coastal Flower’.

‘Coastal Flower’ offers a place of contemplation and a sensory experience that highlights the coexistence of urban and natural spaces. Propato masterfully explores the relationship between people and their everyday environments, creating a space that sparks reflection, metaphor, and even raises questions.

Mr. Cafolla echoed this sentiment: “At DEEPAL, we are inspired by this same ethos. We strive to craft immersive experiences that seamlessly fuse technology, nature, and human interaction to benefit our customers—much like Propato’s work connects people to their surroundings. ‘Coastal Flower’ is a testament to the innovative harmony we aim to achieve in everything we do.”

David Handley AM, Founding CEO & Artistic Director of Sculpture by the Sea, said: “Congratulations to Alejandro Propato on being the recipient of the DEEPAL Australia Artist Award with his sculpture ‘Coastal Flower’. We are delighted to welcome DEEPAL Australia as a new Major Partner of Sculpture by the Sea, Bondi and thank Cormac Cafolla and the team at DEEPAL Australia for their support. We look forward to connecting our visitors with DEEPAL Australia and the future of electric mobility through this exciting partnership.”

Alejandro Propato said: “I am immensely grateful to DEEPAL Australia and Sculpture by the Sea for their support of the arts and for providing artists and the community with a space to communicate and reflect on our relationship with the beauty of life and nature. It’s an honour to be part of such a meaningful dialogue.”

Propato’s ‘Coast Flower’ and the DEEPAL installation can be enjoyed by the 450,000 visitors to Sculpture by the Sea, Bondi, where over 100 sculptures are set to transform the spectacular 2km coastal walk from 18 October – 4 November. Visit sculpturebythesea.com for more information.
