Subaru Australia Supports Australian Road Safety Foundation’s Rural Road Safety Month

September marks the Australian Road Safety Foundation’s (ARSF) Rural Road Safety Month and as a proud partner, Subaru Australia is committed to supporting this initiative by helping educate drivers and creating awareness about the risks of driving on rural roads.

Every week thousands of Australians traverse rural and remote roads. Recent statistics show that rural roads account for a disproportionate 65 per cent of all road accidents and the rate of serious road-related injury in rural areas is nearly twice that of those in major cities*.

Road safety is a message that resonates with everything Subaru does, from the carefully engineered intuitive safety technology to Subaru Corporation’s vision of working towards zero fatal accidents in a Subaru vehicle by 2030†.

However, while every Subaru is engineered to include advanced safety technology, safe cars alone do not replace the sheer importance of driver awareness, focus and good behaviours. This Rural Road Safety Month, Subaru Australia are encouraging all road users to be the change you want to see on the road by always being fit to drive, staying focused on the road, scanning the road ahead, keeping a safe distance and always driving to suit the conditions.

Managing Director at Subaru Australia, Blair Read, said: “The dangers of driving on Australian rural roads are hard to ignore. As individual road users we all have a responsibility to make the roads a safe place to be. That’s why we choose road safety for every single road user. The team at Subaru are passionate about this and playing a role in educating road users alongside the ARSF.

“It will take a combined effort from all to make change and help drive greater safety for rural road users. The keys to road safety are in all our hands.”

During September, Choose Road Safety magnetitic lapel pins will be provided to all Subaru Retail staff to wear to raise awareness and start a conversation about Rural Road Safety Month.

Additionally, each customer collecting a new Subaru vehicle throughout the month of September will receive a message from the ARSF’s CEO & Founder, Russell White, and Subaru Australia’s Managing Director, Blair Read, along with a Choose Road Safety pin. This initiative signifies that by choosing to purchase a Subaru, they have taken an important step towards choosing road safety.

All road users are encouraged to support the ARSF’s Rural Road Safety Month by taking the pledge to choose road safety and be a safer, better road user.
