Inchcape’s Solar Success in Hong Kong and around the world

Inchcape, the leading global automotive distributor, is celebrating the successful completion of a project – led by Inchcape Greater China – to install solar panels on Kowloon Motor Bus Company (KMB) buses in Hong Kong.

In a boost for Hong Kong’s sustainable mobility ambitions, Inchcape Greater China have collaborated with KMB on the project that began last June, to install solar panels on over 1,000 double decker buses of the public transport operator – one of the largest in Hong Kong.

As Hong Kong and the wider worlds seeks a more sustainable future, the installation of the solar panels reduces the energy and fuel needed to power air conditioning on its non-electric buses; with a cool ride much welcome in an area where summer temperatures are known to top 30 degrees.

Hong Kong’s sustainable transport transformation will be driven by an “in-it-together” spirit and our joint solar panel on busses programme with Kowloon Motor Bus is a great example of this. By working together, we can leverage our combined expertise and resources to make a meaningful impact.

Inchcape always seeks exceptional standards and responsible partnership and this project in Hong Kong is the latest example of that. Each solar-powered bus will save five percent of fuel a day and reduce six tonnes of carbon emission per year.

As well as this project in Hong Kong, globally, Inchcape is delivering on a commitment to solar at its sites throughout the world. Inchcape has solar panels installed across markets in all four of its regions globally. Over a full year, our current installations are forecasted to avoid 2,000 tonnes of CO2 emissions.
