Inchcape completes acquisition of Mercedes-Benz Indonesia’s assembly and distribution operations
Inchcape Plc (‘Inchcape’), the leading global automotive distributor, today announced that the acquisition of Mercedes-Benz AG’s Indonesian assembly and distribution operations has been completed. Effective today, operations of PT Mercedes-Benz Indonesia (manufacturer of Mercedes-Benz passenger cars in Indonesia) and PT Mercedes-Benz Distribution Indonesia (the CBU importer and the wholesale distributor of Mercedes-Benz passenger cars in Indonesia) have been transferred to Inchcape Indonesia.
The operations will be managed by Inchcape in joint venture with local partner PT Indomobil Sukses Internasional Tbk (‘Indomobil’). This joint venture combines Inchcape’s global leading expertise in distribution excellence, digital and data capabilities with Indomobil’s local expertise. In the joint venture, Inchcape has a 70% share and Indomobil has a 30% share. This deal will expand Inchcape’s and Indomobil’s existing distribution partnership in Indonesia, continuing to build on Inchcape’s well-established and growing presence in the country.
Inchcape is committed to continuing Mercedes-Benz’s operations in Indonesia. Customers will continue to enjoy the same high-quality products and services as they have with Mercedes-Benz for many years. Production activity in the plant located in Wanaherang, Bogor, will continue uninterrupted. Employees will remain in employment and be given the opportunity to continue working for the company under its new ownership; current employment terms will remain in place in compliance with prevailing laws.
