Mercedes-Benz has a long history in Indonesia, beginning with the introduction of the first vehicle in the country, the Benz Victoria Phaeton, in 1894. The company was officially established in Indonesia in 1970 and currently consists of two entities, PT Inchcape Indomobil Distribution Indonesia (IIDI) and PT Inchcape Indomobil Manufacturing Indonesia (IIMI).

PT Inchcape Indomobil Manufacturing Indonesia (IIMI) assembles flagship passenger vehicles locally, including the A-Class, C-Class, E-Class, and S-Class sedans, as well as the GLA, GLC, GLE, and GLS SUVs. It also produces models such as the Mercedes-AMG A 35 Sedan and Mercedes-AMG GLA 35 at its 42-hectare facility in Wanaherang, Bogor, West Java. In 2009, the plant was accredited as an automotive manufacturer with Eco-Industry certification from TUV-Rheinland.

PT Inchcape Indomobil Distribution Indonesia (IIDI) handles import and wholesale distribution of Mercedes-Benz vehicles and spare parts, plus customer services.
